Separation of Church and Sports … and State

This article touches on “separation of church and sports”: Case Tests Boundaries of Prayer in Sports

Why can’t they just give people (athletes, coaches, students, etc.) 10 minutes of “quiet time” to do whatever they please?  That way people can pray, meditate, doodle, veg out, take a nap, or whatever it is that refreshes and revives their spirit.

I am a firm believer in separation of church and state, along with freedom of religion.  That is, individuals have the right to believe what they want to believe regarding spirituality, but the government should not be in the business of promoting or supporting any particular religion.  For one thing, it would be impossible for government to equally support all religions.  For example, I believe in the Great Tree God, who requires worshipping 365 days per year. This would require a national holiday every single day in order for the government to support me in my religion.  On second thought, maybe this is a good thing. :-)  Okay, I made up the tree god thing.  But do you see my point?
